The Heart of Wavelength Leadership

Q: How did your journey into coaching begin?

A: My coaching journey began long before I knew it would shape my future. At 13, I found myself on the floor, not as a gymnast but as a coach, guiding young athletes through flips, tumbles, and life lessons. For four years, I thrived on motivating, celebrating, and encouraging the gymnasts, feeling a unique pride in their every accomplishment. Fast-forward to 2022, when I became certified as a leadership coach and started working with clients in the evenings and on the weekends. As a leader during the day, I have found so much fulfillment watching folks grow and show up for themselves in new and wonderful ways. I believe there is enough room for everyone to be successful. I love seeing people achieve their goals; it fills my boots to be in their corner, cheering them on.

Q: Was there someone who influenced your coaching style early on?

A: I have been lucky to have learned from many great leaders and, honestly, not-so-great leaders as well. I have had the opportunity to know what I like and don’t like in a leader. During my formative years, I was mentored by an incredible coach who exemplified calmness, kindness, and unwavering support. They consistently pushed me beyond my comfort zone, instilling in me the value of patience and the transformative power of encouragement. But I've also worked under leaders whose approaches taught me what to avoid - micromanagement, poor communication, and lack of empathy. These contrasting experiences have shaped my coaching philosophy profoundly, helping me develop a style that emphasizes authentic connection, clear communication, and personalized support for each individual I work with.

Q: How has your education shaped your approach to leadership coaching?

A: My academic path led me to a BA in Sociology and Criminal Justice, diplomas in Public Relations, Marketing, and Marketing Management, and a certification in leadership coaching. I’m a lifelong learner. These fields have equipped me with a deep understanding of human behavior and the art of effective communication. Public speaking is another passion of mine. From conference stages to facilitating workshops to wedding receptions, I've found my voice and love to inspire others with it.

Q: How do you balance your leadership coaching practice with your other professional commitments?

A: My role as an Executive Director and my coaching practice complement each other perfectly. My daily leadership work provides real-world experience that directly benefits my coaching clients. I dedicate specific hours to coaching, ensuring each client receives my complete attention and energy. Clients value working with someone who understands leadership challenges firsthand and can offer insights from diverse professional settings. This unique combination allows me to deliver practical and personalized coaching.

Q: Why Wavelength?

A: Part of my leadership agenda is to “be the ripple that starts the wave.” The name Wavelength reflects my belief that leadership, like life, has natural ebbs and flows. Sometimes we ride high on the crest of success, and other times we find ourselves in the weeds, struggling to progress forward. Great leadership requires understanding these rhythms and knowing when to push forward and when to reflect. Just as waves can be powerful forces of change, reshaping shorelines over time, effective leadership creates lasting transformation through consistent, purposeful action. Wavelength Leadership is about finding that perfect frequency where we connect, communicate wholeheartedly, and move forward in harmony – creating positive ripples that extend far beyond our immediate influence.
